bamboo arrows suitable for history wars because it's heavier than carbon so when releasing the bow it gonna be more going down than carbon arrows and that make arrows find out for right aiming human's heads not horse's heads

I love breaking bows, i just broke my first ever stave after maybe 20, 30 shots and then trying some things it really didnt like and it broke while i was messing with it, testing it. But i love it cos i watched it fail along the way and with videos like these, having basically the same pieces in my hands, same breaking patterns, i can learn so much about building my next one that its changed my entrire approach on bow making.

Probably one of the best archery training videos that I’ve watched on RUclips, right here. I was a military and EMS helicopter pilot for many years. These same focus principles were used to train us to be good pilots, but instructors did not go deep into the psychology of it all. Great stuff.

Amazing video! I watched one on a VHS cassette tape that was poorly done and it really took me a long time to learn to make a proper bowstring. I just guessed at the backtwist and missed it more than once. Thanks for your help for the common archer and the experienced archer too!

Thank you for this! I’ve only ever shot when supervising at summer camps! I was decent (ie actually hit the circle target 😅) but then went to a different range and BOMBED! Like hit the circle in the lane next to me bad and had NO IDEA what I did wrong. Now I can blame all the equipment things I didn’t even know existed! 😂 Excited to try again soon!

I have a bamboo bow that I love. It is a "Boo Bow" by the late and great Tom Parsons. It has bamboo backing with the nodes slightly sanded but still raised, and a bamboo core with fiberglass belly. It is a Hill style profile with a small amount of set back (which results in a slight string follow after long stringing). It is 64" long and is 57# @ 27" draw. I have taken several game animals with the bow but it has always been too heavy for me and now is about 15 # too heavy. I would like to make a duplicate bow but 15 # lighter. Your video was very helpful in my quest. I was told my bamboo was tempered with heat. Have you tried this and what were your results?

Wow! Great insight! I am a TP sufferer and have worked at gaining control by reading books and watching videos and trying to put the advice into practical use through drills and other practice. This just adds another level in a positive way. I appreciate your contributions to archery and archers.

The physics behind the extra speed from draw length is the extra time acceleration is imparted to the arrow even if it's fractions of a second

I switched to tissue targets and fiber tape. You get 250ply+ boxes of tissues, wrap each one tightly in all directions with fiber reinforced tape, then you take them together tightly you can use 4 to make a small archery target cube... they can take at least 100 target points each side... and costs less then $10 aud to make...When they get a little too worn, take them apart and flip each around and tape back together. Once they are to shot up, take off the outer layer and tape and put the tissues themselves in the compost. works fine for 50 pound recurves and compounds, may need to make an extra box layer is using heavy arrows/heavier bows.

instinctive is better and easier. In hunting, solid accuracy is not a drastic problem because of shooting at big targets in any point of body instead of circuluar lines at olympics.

@kramerammonsarchery I'm going to try this to repair the tip on an old bow. I have the wood working experience to do this. I only have one concern. The front of the bow has a fiberglass lamination, and it is made in 1950. My fear is that the fiberglass will delaminate once I remove a bit to get to the wood for gluing. Any thoughts? Your work is amazing

What is this, the 'Yugos' of archery? In fact The last bow I bought is an SAS, 68" and 45# @ 28". I have been doing this since 1965 and I do not see the validity of your criticisms. Snagability and Comfort are absurd, Junior! Velocity is something I never worried about too much. The traditional shape of the grip is fine, but the leather was a little loose. The first time, I used my 5/16" Hill cedar arrows with the heavy brass tips, I shot good groups(3-4 inches) at 20 and 30 yards. It is forgiving of errors as would be expected of a longbow of that size. There is really nothing to complain about.
